How to Do Philosophy

In his latest essay titled How to Do Philosophy, Paul Graham has taken the time to share some more of his insights with us. His main theme is that philosophy hasn't made much progress in the 2500 years since Aristotle! He doesn't dismiss Philosophy outright, just the approach that has been used by most philosophers up until today. His clear no-nonsense prose and ideas are like a breath of fresh air in stale smoke filled room.

Gender is not like some of the other grammatical modes which express precisely a mode of conception without any reality that corresponds to the conceptual mode, and consequently do not express precisely something in reality by which the intellect could be moved to conceive a thing the way it does, even where that motive is not something in the thing as such.
